First, let me say, “It’s spring!” and I’m loving it! It feels like everything is finally waking up from its long winter nap!
But, what I don’t like about spring is the long list of projects that start to emerge from that same wintery sleep. So around this time, I like to get out a calendar and start organizing my list. In my experience, if I tackle a few projects each week, I am better able to manage all these tasks and avoid a lengthy list come summer!
Most of these tasks are important – not just in keeping your home looking beautiful – but in keeping up on maintenance, which will save you money and avoid costly repairs in the future. Your home is more than likely the largest purchase you will ever make – so it’s best to take good care of it!
Some of these tasks I have done professionally, but others I try to tackle myself! Here is my quick spring cleaning list – one that you can use as an example for projects to tackle around your home this April:
- Wash windows and clean the gutters! It amazes me how much winter grime and leaf debris from all those winter storms accumulates on my house! Time for a fresh spring look!
- Service HVAC. Keeping your HVAC serviced will help your unit run more efficiently and thereby help keep summer air conditioning costs down!
- Cut back roses. Here are some great YouTube videos to show you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbyw2GOuk-w
- Start seeds for your summer garden in the greenhouse!
- Look for your last frost date and don’t plant any tender perennials or annuals until after that final frost date! Here’s a link for you to find yours: https://www.alamanac.com/gardening/frostdates
- Clean and mulch flower beds. This gives your plants a springtime boost and helps keep weeds at bay throughout the summer season.
I hope my April Project List helps you and your home. Check back in for more projects next month!
